Shawmut offers two comprehensive, on-the-job training programs – the Construction Management Skills Training (CMST) program and the Estimating Development Program (EDP). What makes these programs unique is the one-on-one coaching from experienced construction management professionals who help our newest employees become top performers at Shawmut.
Our CMST program is a great opportunity for recent college grads to experience the three main areas of construction – Project Management, Site Supervision, and Estimating. This rigorous 36-month program allows students to gain first hand knowledge of what it takes to be successful in each of those areas. The goal is to have graduates step into the role of an Assistant Project Manager, Assistant Superintendent, or Assistant Estimator as well as gain a comprehensive understanding of how to run world-class projects.
Our EDP is a fast-track program developed specifically for junior estimators. This two year program involves one year in the office actually creating estimates and learning the ins and outs of conceptual budgets, final pricing, M/E/P expertise and other relevant areas. The second year will include an on-site rotation to gain a better understanding of how estimating affects logistics and the construction process.
