Boston, MA—October 15, 2006— Shawmut Design and Construction, a $600 million national construction management firm, recently completed the construction of Legal Test Kitchen (LTK) at 225 Northern Avenue in Boston’s Seaport District. LTK Bar and Kitchen is a new, high-tech dining concept from Shawmut’s long-time client, Legal Sea Foods.
LTK has taken the standard seafood concept employed by its parent company and infused it with modern culinary techniques and popular consumer technologies to create a chic, high-tech lounge. LTK features available plasma screen menus for wireless ordering, iPod docks for personal soundtracks, and wi-fi access for the constantly connected. Legal Sea Foods is hoping that these innovative, technological features may become part of a new trend in restaurants aimed at attracting a younger, more tech-savvy clientele.
LTK’s stylish, modern feel is present throughout its interior as black and tan zebrawood panels line the walls, while a hanging beamed ceiling hovers above. Stainless steel shelving, rich millwork, and stonework elements are utilized in the interior design, while a bamboo-topped bar offers a window view of the full-service kitchen.
During construction the project team collaborated closely with the design team to test and implement several new features and concepts. Shawmut’s ability to seamlessly execute these design changes and remain flexible throughout the construction process enabled LTK to stay on-schedule, remain on-budget, and open on-time.
Shawmut and Legal Sea Foods have enjoyed a 23 year relationship that has, to date, resulted in the construction of over 30 restaurants in nine states. With Legal Sea Foods’ continued expansion and Shawmut’s consistent delivery of successful projects, it appears as though their partnership will continue for years to come.
