Shawmut Completes Two Luxury Clubs at the TD Banknorth Garden in Time for First Bruin's Exhibition Game

Boston, MA—October 19, 2006—Shawmut Design and Construction, a $600 million national construction management firm, in partnership with D'Agostino Izzo Quirk Architects, Inc., has recently completed the construction of two Premium Club luxury clubs at the TD Banknorth Garden. Both constructed over an eight week period, it was imperative that these fast-track construction projects could be completed in time for the Bruin’s first exhibition game on September 30.

The two-level Boardroom, offers unparalleled access to sold-out shows and events, and all Bruins and Celtics games, to a limited membership group. Located on levels 5 and 6 in the West End of the Arena, the 4,000 square-foot space creates an intimate atmosphere within a spacious, upscale lay-out, with a curved granite-topped bars on each level and comfortable recliner lounge seating throughout; both levels are paneled in rich cherry millwork, accented with stainless steel and glass. To create this new space, Shawmut demolished four suites on level 5 and two on level 6, and created a new internal stairway to connect the two levels.

The second refurbished club, located on level 5 in the East End of the Arena, is the 3,000 square-foot SportsDeck, offering an ultimate sporting experience in a high-energy setting right on the mid-level sight line. Comprised of reserved seating and unreserved access to the bar and in-seat wait service, the SportsDeck features a large island bar, informal lounge seating, and four rows of high-tech box seats with internet and AC power connections for use with portable laptops, and a personal drink rail for each row. The bar, richly paneled in light ash millwork and accented by imported pastel glass tiles, offers a completely different feel from the Boardroom club across the arena. Formerly a double-level Executive Suite space, Shawmut demolished the existing stairway to create a single floor space, and knocked out the glass barrier between the suite and the Arena offering direct sight access to the action below.

Shawmut is also currently completing minor renovations of 61 Executive Suites on Levels 5 and 6. Each suite includes a private living room with wet bar, refrigerator, television, concierge services, private bathroom and plush theatre-style seating on a premium viewing terrace. This construction is scheduled to be complete by October 15, just in time for regular season NHL and NBA games.

This is not the first time Shawmut Design and Construction has worked in this space. In 2004, Shawmut completed a high-profile renovation of the entire Arena to accommodate the 2004 Democratic National Convention, completing construction in just six weeks and then restoring the prominent sports arena back to its original condition in just 12 days. Shawmut also has experience in other local sporting venues including Fenway Park and Boston College’s Yawkey Athletic Center, as well as several sports bar venues including Game On! (both the Boston Fenway and Atlantic City locations), B.B. King Club in Foxwoods Casino, and Boston’s Whiskey Park.
