Restoration and replacement of the fifth-floor roof slab at the historic Otto Kahn Mansion involved extensive work on the 1918 Italian Renaissance Palazzo-style building. Originally designed by C. P. H. Gilbert and J. Armstrong Steinhouse and serving as the Convent of the Sacred Heart since the 1930s, the project was phased around school breaks to minimize disruption. The renovation included repairing and reinforcing the roof slab, installing new waterproofing and flashing systems, and restoring the Coquina limestone façade elements, such as the balustrade and cornice. Coordination with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission was also required for approvals.
