The redesign of Eleven Madison Park allowed owners chef Daniel Humm and restaurateur Will Guidara to put their aesthetic stamp on the space, reconfiguring the restaurant so the experience is more open for guests and seamless for staff, and celebrating the landmarked building and beautiful community in which it lives. Shawmut collaborated with Allied Works Architecture, Make It Nice Hospitality Group, BuroHappold Engineering, Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design, and Jacobs Doland Beer to renovate the restaurant in just 56 days. As a result of the team’s exceptional work and final product, the project received an award of merit in the renovation/restoration category from ENR New York’s Best Projects award.

Eleven Madison Park, listed by the restaurant guide World’s 50 Best as among the top eateries globally, received a 9,500-sq-ft renovation to its dining room and kitchen. It happened in just 56 days thanks to intensive preconstruction and procurement processes.
The restaurant is in an occupied building and sits directly above a data center, so workers had to make sure the space had proper protection. Certain parts of the project were also sequenced during off-hours.
The final product was inspired by the neighboring Madison Square Park, reflecting the texture and pattern of foliage. Use of wood throughout gives a sense of the building’s Art Deco history.
