Billerica Memorial High School is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide an innovative, healthy, and adaptable educational environment for over 1,600 students in grades 8 through 12. This 325,000-square-foot, $176 million project includes a 200-student Pre-K program and features two distinct wings: a four-story academic wing with flexible classrooms, STEAM spaces, and administrative support services, and a public wing housing a 700-seat auditorium, a 17,000-square-foot gymnasium with an elevated walking track, and an open commons-style cafeteria.
The design emphasizes adaptability and collaboration, with a layout that promotes flexible teaching methods and integrates hands-on learning opportunities through makerspaces, robotics rooms, and engineering labs. The building’s configuration supports interdisciplinary projects and fosters connectivity between indoor and outdoor areas, with programs linked to exterior gardens and courtyards. LEED® Silver v4 for Schools certified, the facility reflects the community’s commitment to a sustainable and forward-thinking educational environment. The school’s completion marks a significant step toward Billerica’s goal of becoming a leading educational hub in the Merrimack Valley.
