The Soldiers Field Park renovation project in Allston, adjacent to the Harvard Business School campus, involved a comprehensive overhaul of 458 apartment units and the surrounding grounds. The renovation program included a full renewal and modernization of the apartments, common areas, and landscape. Interior updates featured open-concept layouts with premium finishes such as quartz countertops, luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring, and LED lighting. Each unit was also equipped with in-unit laundry and spacious bathrooms. The scope of work extended to replacing all windows and upgrading building systems, including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical infrastructure. The project also focused on enhancing common areas, creating a large centralized amenity space in Building 2 that includes a children’s play area, fitness/yoga center, lounge, conference space, and a community room. Landscape and pedestrian pathways were reconfigured and renewed to improve accessibility and aesthetics. Utilizing Lean Construction Principles, the project was managed efficiently with careful consideration of various budget options for densification, finishes, and amenities to optimize return on investment and bed count. Each phase of the project is targeting LEED® Gold certification, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
