The Houses at 8899 Beverly are a collection of eight single-family detached homes in West Hollywood’s Arts and Design District, with each home offering an entirely different architectural expressions—combining natural materials such as wood, steel, glass, concrete, and stone. All of the homes are two stories, each averaging 2,900 square feet, are LEED® Certified, and some include pools. Part of the 8899 Beverly development, the houses were constructed on tight sites (each piece of property just slightly larger than each home), above a four-story podium garage, in a dense neighborhood, and alongside ongoing construction for the 8899 Beverly tower.
On top of that, Shawmut built the homes at the same time. This required numerous logistical studies and constant communication with all project partners, city, and neighbors. Each house required 5-6 crane picks—an already heavily-planned part of the building process, with the added layer of operating in the heart of a residential neighborhood—and the team conducted pre-task planning with Shawmut’s safety team.
