Shawmut completed a transformative project at UMass Lowell with the construction of the 143,000-square-foot University Crossing Campus Center and the renovation of 87,500 square feet of office spaces. This new facility serves as a pivotal connection between the University’s North, East, and South campuses, and integrates with the nearby downtown business and cultural district. The Campus Center includes a bookstore, dining venue, event spaces, student organizations, and office spaces for various university departments. A standout feature is the elaborate millwork “lantern” in the atrium, which acts as a design focal point. The project also included the renovation of three adjacent parking lots and the removal of a pedestrian connector bridge. University Crossing achieved LEED® Silver certification.
