Shawmut recently completed renovations to the RISD Museum’s eight sixth-floor galleries for ancient Egyptian art, Asian art, and costume and textiles. The opening of these galleries marks the culmination of the Museum’s Radeke Restoration Project, the seven-year renovation of its central Eliza G. Radeke Building. This is the fourth project managed by Shawmut for the RISD Museum.
The recently completed final phase of the project involved renovation, refurbishment, and life safety and fire code compliance upgrades to nearly 5,000 square feet of art galleries and connector spaces on the top floor of the Museum’s historic 1926 Radeke building. Shawmut also renovated the building’s roof, including replacement of a skylight. The interior renovation delivered a high degree of finishes and materials.
