For the thirteenth year in a row, Shawmut will participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a bike-a-thon that supports Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Adapting the 2020 ride to prioritize the health and safety of riders and volunteers amid the health crisis caused by coronavirus, PMC will be transformed into an interactive experience labeled “PMC Reimagined”—bringing together thousands of riders and supporters virtually from their own areas around the globe.
Team Shawmut has raised more than $1,500,000 in total fundraising since the team’s inception, directly supporting the research being conducted by Dana-Farber’s Dr. Christopher Sweeney who has ridden with Team Shawmut for six consecutive years. In lieu of the organization’s traditional experience—which typically includes a 192-mile ride over the first weekend of August—Team Shawmut will reimagine this year’s ride to ensure a socially distant, safe experience while remaining committed to fundraising.
In 2019, Team Shawmut donated $258,300,000 alone—the largest year to-date to help fund lifesaving cancer research, treatment, and patient care efforts. As important as ever, the need for research and treatment funding has only increased during the public health crisis—and Team Shawmut is committed to doing its part.
You can visit Team Shawmut’s PMC page here—and if interested, donate to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Dr. Christopher Sweeney’s lifesaving research. Together, we’re closer by the mile.
