Noteworthy: Based on Shawmut’s strong relationship and continued success in delivering projects with RISD, coupled with Shawmut’s successful experience in Integrated Project Delivery at Brown, RISD elected to proceed with Shawmut on a negotiated basis to deliver this staged project. Phase 1 of the project will involve the construction of a new 156-bed, 43,500 sf Residence Hall on land currently known as the Nickerson Green. This new dorm will act as swing space to allow for the phased gut renovations to Nickerson Hall (Phase 2) and Homer Hall (Phases 3 and 4). The current phasing of the project is based on available beds and maintaining a certain amount for each phase of construction for the school’s use.
