“The funds raised so far by Team Shawmut have helped me create a unique database of 1,200 patients with testicular cancer. The goal is to analyze the genetic make-up of the tumors, identify key drivers of why testicular cancer is curable, and in turn find the key causes of incurable cancer. Much of this research would not have happened without Team Shawmut’s support. I am immensely grateful.”
The Shawmut-Dr. Sweeney Connection.
Shawmut and Dr. Sweeney were first introduced through a Shawmut employee whose friend was diagnosed with testicular cancer and treated by Dr. Sweeney’s program at Dana-Farber. We were so impressed by his work that we decided to direct all donations to the program. Each year, Dr. Sweeney rides in the Pan-Mass Challenge with two of his patients, Chris Ryan and Terry Humphrey, and the entire Shawmut team.
